Reflecting on her tumultuous childhood, multiple surgeries, associated depression and sleep apnea, Annie came to believe the well-known cliché: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” It is a saying that holds true for many of us. Shelley also shares her own encounters with disease, death and destiny, intertwining both hers and Annie’s experiences in this book.
