1. The author will provide a hard copy of the material that is ready for production and is on a disk. If the author requests editorial help, Community Books can recommend an editor, but the author and editor will make personal arrangements for completing the editing and for paying for it. Community Books can also help the author have the material typed to a disk if necessary. Again, however, if such a service is required, the author and the typist will make a personal arrangement for paying for the service

2. The author will contact Community Books with the disk and the revised hard copy when they are satisfied the book is ready for publication.

3. Community Books will provide estimates of printing, design and production costs based on the author's specifications: the length of the book, its dimensions, the number of illustrations, kind of cover, and the number of books the author wants printed. The printing estimate will include delivery charges. Community Books will be happy to explain the publishing process to help in making choices. The work will proceed only when the author approves the estimate and signs the Letter of Agreement.

4. The disk and hard copy will be given to a production /design professional, who prepare the files for the printer. Page and cover designing will occur at this time. The author will be consulted at all stages of this process. The bill for this work will be included in the total payable to Community Books.

5. The author will be required to make a down-payment at the beginning of the project of one third of the estimated cost of producing the book. When the book is ready for the printer, a further third will be required, and the final payment will be due when the book is ready for delivery to the author.

6. Community Books will pay all costs connected with the book production, then bill the author. The costs will be itemized. The final bill will include HST charges.

7. The printed book will be delivered to the author.

8. The author holds the copyright and owns the book.

9. Community Books will reject material it feels is not ready for publication. Community Books does not accept racist, sexist or pornographic material.

10. Community Books will charge a service fee of 15 % (plus HST) of all the production and printing costs.
